PAN Card Photo & Signature
Photo and signature JPG at the size, KB and DPI of the NSDL or UTI form.
Resize your photo and signature for the PAN application in one step, with the size, KB limit and DPI set for you.
Photo and signature for the PAN card form
When you apply for a new PAN card or a correction online, the form asks you to upload a scanned photo and a scanned signature with a fixed size, file size and resolution. Many applications get stuck at this step. This tool makes both files for the two PAN portals, Protean (formerly NSDL) and UTIITSL, in one step: choose the portal and whether you need the photo or the signature, add your picture and download a ready JPG.
Protean (NSDL) values
For Protean we use the values from Protean's own instruction page: the photo is 3.5 cm high and 2.5 cm wide and the signature 2 cm high and 4.5 cm wide, both at 200 DPI, with the photo at most 20 KB and the signature at most 10 KB. At 200 DPI that is 197 × 276 pixels for the photo and 354 × 157 pixels for the signature.
UTIITSL values
For UTIITSL the sizes commonly given are a 213 × 213 pixel photo at 300 DPI up to 30 KB, and a 400 × 200 pixel signature at 600 DPI up to 60 KB, black and white. We could not find these numbers on an official UTIITSL page, so the tool says so on screen. Please check the form you are filling before uploading.
Every number can be changed
Portals sometimes change their rules. The width, height, KB limit and DPI are filled in for you, but you can change any of them. The tool shrinks the JPG quality until the file is under the KB limit, and writes the DPI value into the file header, where portals and printers read it.
Photo and signature tips
Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background; switch on 'White background' if the wall behind you is not plain. For the signature, sign with a black pen on white paper, take a clear photo and switch on 'Black and white' so the paper becomes white and the ink black. The signature is fitted inside the box without cutting it.
Other forms
For exam forms use the Exam Photo and Exam Signature tools, which have presets for SSC, IBPS, NEET and others.
An example
A first-time applicant has a phone photo and a signature on white paper. She chooses Protean, makes the photo with a white background, then switches to Signature, adds the signature photo and turns on black and white. Both files come out under the KB limit and are accepted on the first upload.
Private by design
Everything happens inside your own browser. Your photos and the details you type are never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For family photos and identity papers this matters more than anything else.
