Resize PDF to A4

Make every page A4, Legal or Letter size without blurring the text.

Put pages of different sizes on one paper size without making the text blurry.

Make every page of a PDF the same size

When you merge PDFs from different places, the pages often have different sizes: a bank statement in Letter size, a receipt that is small and long, a scanned page slightly bigger than A4, a photo page that is square. On screen this looks untidy and in print some pages come out tiny or cut off. This tool puts every page on one paper size, A4, Legal or US Letter, so the whole file looks and prints evenly.

Text stays sharp

Each page is copied onto the new paper as it is, as vector content, and scaled to fit. Nothing is turned into a picture, so text stays sharp at any zoom, can still be selected and searched, and the file size usually changes very little. This is the main difference from tools that print pages to images.

How pages are placed

Every page keeps its own shape. It is made as large as possible on the new paper without being cut and placed in the centre, so small pages are enlarged and large pages are reduced. You can add a margin of 5, 10 or 15 mm around the content, which helps when a printer cannot print right to the edge.

Portrait and landscape

With 'Auto', wide pages go on landscape paper and tall pages on portrait paper, so nothing becomes needlessly small. Choose 'Portrait' or 'Landscape' to force one direction for every page. Pages that were rotated in the original keep the same look as in your PDF viewer.

When to use it

Before sending a merged file to a government portal that wants A4 pages, before printing a mix of scanned papers, or when a court, college or office asks for Legal size. Lawyers in India often need Legal size; most offices want A4.

An example

A person merges an Aadhaar card PDF, a salary statement in Letter size and two phone scans into one file for a loan application. The pages look like a patchwork. After 'Resize PDF to A4' with a 10 mm margin, all four pages are A4, centred and print neatly.

Good to know

The tool does not crop or remove anything from a page; white space around a small page simply becomes larger. If a scanned page has wide dark borders from the scanner lid, crop them first with the Crop PDF tool, then resize. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with the password you already know. Fill-in form fields are not kept in the new file, so fill the form before resizing.

Private by design

Everything happens inside your own browser. Your files and the details you type are never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For contracts, bank papers and personal photos this matters more than anything else.
