Add a border, a frame and big text to a photo

Shops, schools and families often want a photo with a name, a greeting or a short banner written on it, or a neat border around it for printing and WhatsApp status. This tool adds a coloured border or frame around any photo and writes your text in large, bold letters with a thick outline, so it is easy to read on any background. Hindi text works as well as English.

Borders and frames

Set the border width with the slider and pick any colour. 'Plain border' adds the same border on all four sides. 'Double line' adds two thin lines in the outline colour inside the border, which looks like a classic frame. 'Photo card' makes the bottom border much wider, like an instant photo print, leaving room for a name or a message under the picture.

Text with an outline

Type up to 120 characters. Choose where the text goes: bottom, top or middle. At the bottom, the text sits in the wide border of a photo card frame, or inside the photo if the border is narrow. Pick the text colour and the outline colour and set the outline thickness; a white text with a black outline is readable on almost any photo. The text is made smaller automatically if it is too wide for the picture.

Hindi and other scripts

For Hindi and other Devanagari text the tool loads the Noto Sans Devanagari font that comes with PDFPixo, so the letters join correctly even on phones that lack a good Hindi font. For other scripts, your device's own fonts are used.

Ideas

Write a name and class under a student's photo for a school project; add 'Happy Birthday' and a golden border for a status; put a shop name on product photos; add a frame to old family photos before printing them.

File type

Save as JPG for sharing or PNG for the cleanest text edges. The photo keeps its size, up to about 3000 pixels on the long side, and the border is added around it.

An example

A shop owner wants to post new saree photos on WhatsApp with the shop name. He adds a photo, chooses a plain white border of 5 percent, types the shop name, picks yellow text with a black outline at the bottom and saves a JPG. He repeats it for each photo in a few seconds, so all his posts look the same.
