Open ZIP File

Open a ZIP file and save the PDFs and photos inside, one by one.

See what is inside a ZIP file and save the files you need, without installing an app.

Open a ZIP file in your browser

Many documents arrive as a ZIP file: admit cards and results from exam websites, photos from a studio, invoices from an accountant, or a folder of forms from an office. Phones often cannot open ZIP files without installing an extra app. This tool opens the ZIP inside your browser and shows every file in it, each with its own download button.

What you see

After you press the button, the list shows the name and size of every file in the ZIP, such as PDFs, photos, Word files and text files. Folders inside the ZIP are opened too, and their files appear in the same list. Hidden helper files that some computers add, such as __MACOSX folders and .DS_Store files, are left out so the list stays clean.

Saving files

Tap Download next to any file to save it to your phone or computer. You only save the files you need. After saving a PDF or a photo, you can open it in another PDFPixo tool, for example to compress a PDF for an upload or to resize a photo for a form.

Limits

To keep your phone or computer safe from running out of memory, a ZIP with more than 1,000 files, or with files that add up to more than 800 MB after opening, is not opened. Password-protected ZIP files cannot be opened here. If the file is damaged or is not really a ZIP file, you see a clear message instead of a broken list.

Opening a ZIP from the home page

You can also drop a ZIP file on the box at the top of the home page. PDFPixo notices that it is a ZIP and opens this tool for you.

Making a ZIP

To do the opposite, putting many files into one ZIP to send as a single attachment, use the make ZIP tool. It can also rename the files in order, such as Document-01, Document-02.

An example

A college emails a ZIP with a hall ticket, a fee receipt and a photo. On his phone, Ravi opens the ZIP here, downloads the hall ticket PDF, and prints it at a shop without installing any app.

Common uses

Opening exam documents, saving photos sent by a studio, checking invoices from a vendor, reading backups of documents and taking out a single file from a large folder that was shared as a ZIP.

Private by design

Everything happens inside your own browser. Your files and the details you type are never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For personal papers such as ID cards, bank details and salary documents, this matters more than anything else.

How to use it

  1. Choose the ZIP Pick the .zip file from your phone or computer.
  2. Press the button The ZIP is opened in your browser.
  3. See the files Every file is listed with its size.
  4. Download what you need Tap Download next to each file.
