In-Hand Salary Calculator
Monthly and yearly take-home pay after PF, professional tax and TDS.
Find out how much salary reaches your bank account each month after deductions.
How much salary will reach your bank account?
An offer letter usually shows the salary as a yearly CTC or as a list of monthly parts: basic pay, house rent allowance, special allowance and others. The amount that actually reaches your bank account each month is lower, because provident fund, professional tax and income tax are deducted. This calculator works out your monthly and yearly in-hand salary from the amounts you type, shows it instantly and gives you the calculation as a one-page PDF for your own planning.
What you type
Enter the monthly basic pay, HRA, special allowance and any other allowances. These add up to your gross salary a month. Then choose how provident fund is deducted and type the professional tax, the income tax (TDS) taken each month and any other deductions, such as a canteen charge or a loan recovery.
Provident Fund
The employee share of EPF is 12 percent of basic pay. Many employers deduct 12 percent of the full basic pay; others deduct 12 percent of basic pay only up to the wage ceiling of ₹15,000, which makes ₹1,800 a month at most. Choose the option your payslip or offer letter uses, or 'No PF' if you are not covered. If your company counts dearness allowance with basic pay, add it to the basic pay field.
Professional tax and income tax
Professional tax depends on the state you work in, and income tax depends on the tax regime you choose, your total income and your savings, so the calculator does not guess them. Type the monthly amounts from your payslip, from your employer's tax declaration or from your own tax calculation. Leave them empty if they do not apply.
What you get
As you type, a box shows gross salary, total deductions and in-hand salary a month. Press the button to get a PDF titled 'In-hand salary calculation' with your earnings, deductions, monthly and yearly in-hand amount and the PF rule used. It is clearly marked as a calculation and is not a salary slip; a salary slip can only come from your employer.
An example
Basic pay ₹30,000, HRA ₹12,000, PF at 12 percent of basic (₹3,600) and professional tax ₹200 give a gross of ₹42,000, deductions of ₹3,800 and ₹38,200 in hand each month, which is ₹4,58,400 a year before any income tax.
