Remove Photo EXIF & GPS
See the date, camera and location hidden in a photo and remove them.
Check what a photo reveals about you, like where it was taken, and save a clean copy without it.
See and remove the hidden details in a photo
A photo from a phone carries more than the picture. Inside the file there is usually the date and time it was taken, the make and model of the phone or camera, the software that edited it and, if location was switched on, the exact GPS position where you stood. When you post a photo of your house, your child's school or a product you sell, anyone who downloads the original file can read this. This tool shows you what is inside and saves a clean copy without it.
What you see
As soon as you add a photo, a box lists what was found: date taken, camera or phone, GPS location as latitude and longitude (shown in red when present), software, and other blocks such as XMP or IPTC data that editing apps add. If nothing is hidden, it says so.
How cleaning works
For JPG, PNG and WebP photos the tool removes the hidden blocks from the file directly, without saving the picture again, so the image quality and pixels stay exactly the same and the file usually becomes a little smaller. For JPG, the colour profile is kept so colours look the same, and if the photo was taken sideways a tiny note of which way is up is kept, so the photo still shows the right way round. Everything else, including the GPS location, date and camera, is removed.
Other photo types
iPhone HEIC photos, AVIF, GIF and BMP files are saved again as JPG, which carries no hidden details. Add several photos at once to clean them together; you get one ZIP file with all the clean copies and a message saying how many had a GPS location.
Do apps remove it anyway?
Some apps, like WhatsApp when sending as a photo, remove location data, but sending as a document, email, cloud links and many websites keep the original file. Cleaning first is the safe choice. For PDF files, use the Remove PDF Metadata tool.
An example
A seller wants to post photos of furniture for sale online. The tool shows that every photo has the GPS location of his home. He removes it from all ten photos in one go and uploads the clean copies.
Good to know
The picture you see does not change, and neither does its size in pixels. The file name gets the word clean added, so you can tell the copies apart. Screenshots and photos sent through some apps often have no hidden details at all; the box will then say so.
Private by design
Everything happens inside your own browser. Your files and the details you type are never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For contracts, bank papers and personal photos this matters more than anything else.
