How to Sign a PDF on Your Phone Without Printing or Scanning
Updated: 2026-10-18
An offer letter, a rent agreement or a school form arrives as a PDF and needs your signature today. Printing, signing and scanning takes time and often gives a crooked, heavy file. On a phone you can sign the PDF directly in a couple of minutes.
Three ways to make your signature
Draw it with your finger on the screen. Type your name and use it as a signature. Or take a photo of your signature on white paper and turn on the option to remove the white, so only the ink is placed on the document. The photo method looks most like your real signature.
Step by step
Open the Edit and sign PDF tool on PDFPixo and choose the PDF. Choose Signature and make it in one of the three ways. Tap the place on the page where it should go; move it and change its size until it sits on the line. Add a date item next to it if the form has a date box, and text for your name or place if needed. Press the button and download the signed PDF.
If the document needs your signature on several pages, add it on each page in the same way.
Is this a legal signature?
This places a picture of your signature on the document, the same as signing paper and scanning it. Many offices, employers and landlords accept this. It is not a digital signature certificate (DSC) or an Aadhaar e-sign, which some legal and tax filings require. If you are not sure, ask the person receiving the document which kind they need.
Changing text, not just adding
If you also need to correct something already written in the PDF, such as a wrong date or a spelling, use PDF Studio, which can change the existing words in the PDF itself.
Before you send
Open the signed PDF once and check every page. If the file is too large to email or upload, use the compress tool. Keep a copy of the signed document for your records.
A worked example
Meena receives an offer letter PDF with a line "Signature of candidate" on the last page and a date box beside it. On her phone she opens Edit and sign PDF, chooses the letter, takes a photo of her signature on white paper with "remove white" switched on, and taps the signature line. She makes the signature a little smaller to fit the line, adds a date item in the date box, saves the PDF and replies to the email with it. The whole thing takes about three minutes.
Making your signature look natural
Sign with a fine black or blue pen on clean white paper; a thick marker looks unnatural when shrunk. Photograph it in daylight without shadows of your hand or phone. Keep the signature about the same size as a real signature on the page. Use the same signature photo for every page, so all pages match.
Signing forms with boxes and several signers
Many forms have separate boxes for name, place, date and signature. Use text items for name and place, a date item for the date, and the signature item for the signature, and zoom in while placing them so they sit inside the boxes. If two people must sign, such as a tenant and a landlord, the first person signs and sends the PDF, and the second person opens that signed PDF and adds their signature in the same way. Each signature is placed on top of the page, so earlier signatures stay as they are. For documents that need initials on every page, add a small signature or typed initials at the bottom corner of each page before saving.
Private by design
Your signature and the document stay in your browser. PDFPixo does not upload or store them.
